IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Injuries were reported in an Iron Mountain house fire on Friday.
The Iron Mountain Fire Department was called out around 12:45 a.m. to a two-and-a-half-story home on 700 East D Street. The homeowner had used a fire extinguisher to put out most of the fire. Crews found and extinguished pockets of fire in the ceiling.
Damage was contained to the room where the fire started.
One of the home’s residents was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. A second was taken to the hospital with burns on their hands.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Officials are crediting working fire alarms and fire extinguishers with keeping the incident manageable.
