GARFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI— Firefighters found a deceased man while putting out an eight-acre brush fire in Mackinac County Wednesday.
The elderly man was apparently burning yard debris in Garfield Township when he called for assistance. Dry and windy conditions prompted the fire to burn out of control.
Firefighters found the man in the burned-out area.
Crews were able to extinguish the flames. Officials do not believe the incident was the result of foul play.
The fire remains under investigation.
