Wells Township barn, camper burn

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— A Delta County barn has been destroyed by fire.

The Escanaba Public Safety Department was dispatched Thursday around 8:50 p.m. to 3239 18th Road in Wells Township. Crews found a metal barn and nearby camper fully engulfed. Flames were starting to spread into the woods.

Officers stopped the flames from spreading further into the woods and extinguished the barn fire. Both the barn and camper were a total loss.

No injuries were reported but two piglets were lost in the fire. All other animals in the barn, including horses, chickens, and ducks, survived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were the Escanaba Township Fire Department, Delta County Central Dispatch, and Rampart EMS.
