Sault house fire claims life

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— One person has died in a house fire in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Sault Fire Department responded Monday around 11:20 p.m. to West Spruce Street and found the structure in flames.

Multiple people lived in the residence, but only one body was found. Officials say the victim is about 39 years old.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Central Dispatch at 906-495-3312.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
