Fire breaks out in vacant Iron Mountain house

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— A house in Iron Mountain was damaged by fire over the weekend.

Saturday around 8:30 a.m., the Iron Mountain Fire Department was dispatched to 824 Spring Street. They say no one was living in the house at the time.

The kitchen was heavily damaged. Officials believe a faulty electrical box was the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The Iron Mountain Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Kingsford Public Safety, the Breitung Township Fire Department, DTE and WE Energies, and Integrity EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
