No injuries reported in Ishpeming house fire

ISHPEMING, MI— An Ishpeming house has been destroyed by fire.

The Ishpeming Fire Department was called to a home on West Johnson Street Thursday around 10 p.m. When crews arrived, the structure was fully involved with flames coming through the windows.

Units were at the scene for four hours until the fire was completely extinguished.

The resident was not at home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit has been contacted to assist with the investigation.

Assisting in the incident were the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue 131, UPHS EMS, Ishpeming Police Department, Michigan State Police, Ishpeming DPW, Marquette County Central Dispatch, SEMCO Energy, and UPPCO.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
