No injuries reported in Escanaba fire

ESCANABA, MI— An Escanaba house has been damaged by fire.

Department of Public Safety officers were notified Saturday around 9:00 p.m. of a residential fire at 1407 North 19th Street. Officers found smoke and flames coming from a second-story window when they arrived.

Crews were able to keep the fire contained to the second floor and were able to extinguish it.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were Delta County Central Dispatch, the Escanaba Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS, the Escanaba City Electric Department, and DTE.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
