Iron Mountain house heavily damaged by fire

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— No one was injured in an Iron Mountain house fire Tuesday night.

Crews were dispatched around 7:11 p.m. to 901 East G Street. They found light smoke coming from the attic and heavy smoke from the front of the home. Firefighters requested mutual aid from the Kingsford and Breitung Township fire departments.

Crews were able to extinguish fire in the kitchen and dining room. They ventilated the home and checked for pockets of fire in the ceiling and attic.

Heavy fire damage was confined to the kitchen and dining room areas, while the rest of the house suffered smoke and heat damage.

Officials say there were no working smoke alarms in the house.

Also assisting at the scene were the Iron Mountain Police Department, DTE Gas, Wisconsin Electric, Integrity Care EMS, the Iron Mountain DPW, the Dickinson County Victim Service Unit, and the Red Cross.
