No one injured in Marquette house fire Saturday

MARQUETTE, MI— Fire damaged a Marquette home over the weekend.

The Marquette City Fire Department was called Saturday around 11:45 p.m. to 310 Harrison Street for the smell of smoke on the second floor and a partial power loss.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the top floor of the house. They requested help from additional Marquette firefighters, the Marquette Township Fire Department, and the Chocolay Township Fire Department.

The fire was contained to the attic of the residence.

Crews searched for any extension of the fire and placed salvage covers to protect property from water damage.

No injuries were reported.

Also assisting at the scene were the Marquette City Police Department, UPHS EMS, SEMCO, and the Marquette Board of Light and Power.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
