No one injured in Trout Lake Township house fire

TROUT LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI— Fire has destroyed a home in Chippewa County’s Trout Lake Township.

Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded Tuesday around 1:45 p.m. to a house on West Main Street near M-123. The structure was fully engulfed.

The Trout Lake Fire Department was already on the scene. They were joined by fire departments from Whitefish, Hulbert, and Hendricks townships.

All three occupants of the home and their two dogs were able to escape. A cat perished in the fire.

The home is a total loss. A neighboring house also suffered damage from the flames.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Straits Area EMS assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
