Thick smoke damages Escanaba home

ESCANABA, MI— Escanaba Public Safety was called to a residence Monday on a report that smoke was coming out of the home.

Officers responded to 1417 North 22nd Street and found heavy smoke coming from the basement. They quickly located its source and took care of it.

Firefighters ventilated the house to prevent further smoke damage.

No injuries were reported.

Delta County Central Dispatch, Rampart, Escanaba City Electric, and DTE assisted in the incident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
