Fire damages Wells Township home

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— No injuries were reported, following a house fire in Wells Township Monday.

Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched around 10:50 a.m. to 5429 K Lane and saw smoke coming from the eaves. Minutes later, fire was coming out of the roof.

Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours. The house sustained major fire, smoke, and water damage.

A woman and pets who were inside the house evacuated before officers arrived.

There were no reported injuries.

Assisting in the incident were Delta County Central Dispatch, Rampart EMS, the Ford River Township and Escanaba Township Volunteer fire departments, UPPCO, and the Red Cross.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
