Fire severely damages Marquette Township home

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI— A Marquette Township house was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

WLUC-TV says township firefighters were dispatched just after midnight to a home off Forestville Road.

A father, his daughter, and a dog got out of the house safely, but the home is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Chocolay Township Fire, Marquette Township and City Fire, and Negaunee Township Fire Departments, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, and UPHS-Marquette.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
