Crews respond to apartment fire in Kingsford

KINGSFORD, MI— Only minor damage was reported, following an apartment fire in Kingsford Saturday.

Kingsford Public Safety was called around 9:20 a.m. to Building A of Pine Bluff Apartments. Smoke was pouring out of a second-floor apartment when they arrived.

Residents from that and adjoining buildings were evacuated. Crews were able to contain the fire to one apartment.

Officials say the buildings were ventilated. They suffered only minor smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

Kingsford Public Safety was assisted by the Iron Mountain Fire Department, Dickinson County Sheriff Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Integrity EMS, DTE, and WE Energies. The Red Cross was also contacted and advised of what happened.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
