Residents join forces to clean out temporary DPW garage in Laurium

VILLAGE OF LAURIUM, MI— The residents of Laurium and surrounding communities came together over the weekend to clean up a temporary Public Works garage.

Village Manager Ian Lewis says officials expected the work to take four hours, but it took less than an hour and a half. He notes numerous donations have made the space feel like a place of work for employees.

Lewis says the village was back up and running in at least some capacity in one day thanks to the collaboration of numerous agencies, businesses, and municipalities.

Officials ask that residents be patient as the village works to adapt to losing all its equipment and tools.

Lewis says the village remains Laurium Strong and Copper Country Strong.
