Crews called back to Kingsford house after fire rekindles

KINGSFORD, MI— Fire has damaged a house in Kingsford.

Sunday around 5:17 p.m., Kingsford Public Safety was dispatched to the 500 block of Sterling Street.

All occupants of the residence got out before fire crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

KPSD cleared the scene at 7:07 p.m., but was called back Monday around 1:15 a.m. Officers patrolling the area observed that fire had rekindled in the attic. Crews extinguished that fire and cleared the scene at 2:37 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

KPSD was assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Central Dispatch, Integrity EMS, the Iron Mountain Police Department, WE Energies, DTE, and the Iron Mountain Fire Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
