Crews called to double house fire in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI— Two houses were destroyed by fire in Escanaba Monday.

The Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched around 6:21 p.m. to 915 Sheridan Road. They found that house and a home at 913 Sheridan fully engulfed.

Officers quickly deployed attack lines to stop the fire from spreading to a third house and adjacent garage. Crews were on the scene for about three and a half hours.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Public Safety was assisted by the Escanaba Township Fire Department, Ford River Township Fire Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Delta County Central Dispatch, Rampart EMS, and the Red Cross.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
