No injuries reported in Marquette house fire

MARQUETTE, MI— A Marquette duplex was damaged by fire Monday.

The Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched around 3:45 p.m. to 107 East Kaye Avenue. Thirty firefighters attacked the blaze and brought it under control within about 15 minutes. Crews were at the scene for about 2.5 half hours.

Reports indicate one person in the multi-family building was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Assisting in the incident were Marquette Township Fire, Chocolay Township Fire, the Marquette City Police Department, UPHS EMS, SEMCO, the Marquette Board of Light and Power, and Marquette County Central Dispatch.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
