ESCANABA, MI— Firefighters were able to prevent an Escanaba garage from going up in flames Tuesday.
Around 3 p.m., Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to 534 North 19th Street on a report that a fence was on fire. While crews were enroute they learned the fire had spread to an adjacent garage.
Officials say thanks to the rapid response of officers and immediate access to water the fire was quickly knocked down before the garage was fully engulfed.
Escanaba Public Safety also thanks the alert citizens who called 911 and assisted with hoses at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
