ESCANABA, MI— The likely cause of a fire that affected two Escanaba houses in March has been determined by the Escanaba Department of Public Safety.
Crews were dispatched to 915 and 913 Sheridan Road on March 17 and found them fully engulfed.
Following an investigation, officers believe the fire started at a light/electrical box on the rear porch of 915 Sheridan. They say the cause does not appear to be intentional by human introduction of a heat source or flame.
Escanaba Public Safety encourages homeowners to regularly inspect electrical systems, especially in older homes, and to consult with a licensed electrician if any concerns arise.
