Dirty water reported around fire site in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI— Escanaba residents are being warned of possible dirty water on North Lincoln Road between the fairgrounds and Ludington Street due to a fire at U.P. Towing and Recycling on 9th Avenue Wednesday.

Restaurants and other food service establishments are asked to refrain from using soda fountains, ice machines, coffee makers, and other water-fed beverage or food equipment until the water runs clear. That will avoid contamination or equipment damage if discolored water is present.

If dirty water occurs, run your water for 5 to 10 minutes to clear the line. If dirty water persists, please contact the City of Escanaba Water Department at 906-786-3291.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
