ESCANABA, MI— The Escanaba Department of Public Safety was called to extinguish another structure fire in the city Tuesday.
Crews were dispatched around 7:07 p.m. to 3101 14th Avenue South for a fire at a two-story residential building. Officers found the rear of the home fully engulfed. The flames were threatening the rest of the building and a nearby detached garage.
Officers attacked the fire from the inside and outside of the building and quickly got the fire under control. The rest of the house and the garage were kept safe.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury while fighting the fire.
Assisting in the incident were Delta County Central Dispatch, the Escanaba Township Fire Department, Ford River Fire Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Rampart, the Escanaba City Electric Department, the Red Cross, and DTE.
