Chimney fire quickly brought under control in Kingsford

KINGSFORD, MI— A chimney fire threatened a Kingsford home on Sunday.

The Kingsford Public Safety Department was dispatched around 12:45 p.m. to 901 Olympic street and saw flames outside the house’s chimney area.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented further spread to the structure. Crews remained at the scene until about 3:05 p.m.

All occupants had safely evacuated the home before firefighters’ arrival. No injuries were reported.

Assisting in the incident were the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Dispatch, and DTE Energy.

KPSD reminds residents to have their chimneys inspected and cleaned regularly to help prevent chimney-related fires, especially during the heating season.
