One injured in Escanaba fire

ESCANBA, MI— Fire has damaged a home in Delta County.

The Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched Monday around 2:24 a.m. to 604 S. 17th Street. Upon arrival, crews found the front of the residence fully engulfed, with flames rolling over the roofline.

Personnel quickly deployed attack lines to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes. They extinguished flames that had extended from the main level into the attic. Crews remained at the scene for about three hours.

One resident was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

One adjacent house sustained minor damage from the heat.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were the Ford River and Escanaba Township Fire Departments, Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch, Escanaba City Electrical and Public Works Departments, and DTE.
