Two people critically injured in Iron Mountain fire

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Two people suffered serious injuries in an Iron Mountain house fire Sunday.

The Iron Mountain Fire Department was called around 7:38 a.m. to 411 Fourth Street. Upon arrival, they found two of the home’s occupants had been able to evacuate. A third person was found unresponsive.

All three were taken to Marshfield-Dickinson Hospital. Two were transferred to another facility and remain in critical condition.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were the Breitung Township Fire Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Iron Mountain DPW, DTE, WE Energies, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, and Integrity Care EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
