Pembine house fire claims second life

PEMBINE, MI— Another person has died from injuries sustained in a Marinette County house fire.

It happened last Tuesday morning at a residence on Holmes Junction Road in the town of Pembine. During a search of the home, firefighters found the body of Roy Newling, 30.

A 30-year-old woman, 9-year-old child, and 2-year-old child were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office says on Friday the 2-year-old girl, Aurora Newling, died from injuries she sustained in the fire.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says their thoughts and prayers are with the Newling family during this difficult time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
