IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Firefighters rescued two dogs when an Iron Mountain home caught fire over the weekend.
The Iron Mountain Fire Department was dispatched Sunday around 9 p.m. to a structure fire at 107 Fourth Street. When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the back of the house.
One crew entered the first floor from the front of the building and started extinguishment and search efforts. Other firefighters found two dogs and removed them from the structure. Fire Department personnel started resuscitation efforts before the dogs were transferred to the care of the Iron Mountain Police Department and Integrity Care EMS. There’s no information regarding their condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
