NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI— Increased humidity and lower temperatures have prompted the Department of Natural Resources to lift evacuation orders for residents near the Ridge Fire in Negaunee Township.

Officials say fire activity has settled down to the point where those who left their homes on County Road 510 can now return.

Additionally, the “Ready, Set, Go!” status for those on North Basin Drive has been pulled back to “Ready.” That means residents are encouraged to remove dry brush and debris within 30 to 100 feet of their home so firefighters can protect it, plan an evacuation route, pack an emergency bag including medications, important documents, and pet supplies, and monitor information from the DNR and Marquette County Emergency Management on social media and local news.
