Business leaders, lawmakers converge on Mackinac Island

MACKINAC ISLAND, MI--   Michigan's business, political and academic leaders are preparing to gather on Mackinac Island for the Detroit Regional Chamber's annual policy conference. 

The event officially opens Tuesday night, with main stage programming running Wednesday through Friday.

Featured speakers this year include Gallup Inc. CEO Jim Clifton, author Malcolm Gladwell, former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, Detroit emergency manager Kevyn Orr and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan also will address the conference of more than 1,500 attendees.

Attendees also will hear from U.S. Senate candidates Terri Lynn Land and Gary Peters, who are vying for a seat opening up with the retirement of Sen. Carl Levin.
