State Land Bank now under MSHDA

LANSING, MI (AP)--   Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has transferred administrative responsibilities of the State Land Bank to the executive director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

Snyder says the reorganization will streamline land bank operations and support the most efficient use of time and resources. The land bank's executive director position and board of directors are being dissolved.

The State Land Bank Fast Track Authority was created in 2003 and works to revitalize neighborhoods and communities. It is involved in blight removal projections, the purchase and sale of public property and is also overseeing the redevelopment of the state fairgrounds.

The land bank will still exist as its own entity within the housing development authority. Snyder issued an executive order last week transferring the land's bank administrative responsibilities to MSHDA.
