Associated Press - The Michigan Department of Transportation is awarding state transportation economic development grants in six counties. A project in Delta County will receive $200,000 to improve ‘Mead Road,’ or County Road 59, in Wells Township. ‘Omya, Inc.’ will build a new plant for manufacturing precipitated calcium carbonate for use in paper manufacturing. The project will create six new jobs and transfer one position to Michigan. In Chippewa County, $448,000 will go to improve West Easterday Avenue, connecting I-75 to Industrial Park Drive. ‘A-M-I Hose, LLC’ will locate in an existing facility to produce Teflon-coated, braided hose for the automotive industry. The project will create 40 new jobs.

Other grants went to downstate projects in Ingham, Livingston, Oakland, and Oceana counties.
