MADISON, WI (AP)-- Private and public-sector unions are joining together to stop a right-to-work bill that Republicans have put on a fast track to pass in the Wisconsin Legislature within days.
Union leaders said at a Monday news conference that they are urging their members, as well as business owners, to contact state senators to tell them to vote against the bill.
The proposal is moving fast. It was formally introduced Monday, a Senate hearing was set for Tuesday, and the Senate planned to be in session Wednesday to vote on it. The Assembly was expected to act next week.
Sally Feistel, a Steelworkers union leader, says she thinks it's inevitable the bill will pass the Republican-controlled Legislature.
Feistel says it's an attack on working families.
