Three U.P. state lawmakers have come out in support of the construction of County Road 595.
The Marquette County Road Commission last week filed a lawsuit against the EPA for blocking the construction of the 21-mile road.
State Senator Tom Casperson and State Representatives John Kivela and Ed McBroom all issued statements in support of the project.
They say building CR-595 would take heavy traffic off of Marquette streets, cut fuel costs, and spur economic development.
The road would connect County Road AAA in Michigamme Township with US-41 in Humboldt Township to create a faster route for trucks hauling material from the Eagle mine to the Humboldt Mill.
