Ishpeming receives money to upgrade City Hall

ISHPEMING, MI--   The City of Ishpeming is getting a federal loan to revamp City Hall.

The $1.6 million comes through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program.  It will be used to give the outside of the building a facelift and upgrade an elevator.

The city will pay a 3-percent interest rate on bonds over the next 30 years.  Officials say it will be a much cheaper process than getting a commercial loan.

The city hopes the project will be completed by the end of the year.
