Governor and Lieutenant Governor visit Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette was the last stop on a statewide inaugural tour for Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist Saturday.

They hosted the final “Whitmer Winter Warmup” at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum. Hundreds of people showed up to meet the pair, who also held events in Detroit, Flint, and Grand Rapids.

Attendees enjoyed special activities and refreshments.

Whitmer also encouraged people to bring a new or gently-used book to the event to be donated to a local charity.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
