Be prepared for snow during parking ban, Iron Mountain and Kingsford officials say

Nicole Walton

IRON MOUNTAIN/KINGSFORD, MI— Officials are reminding Iron Mountain and Kingsford residents about the winter parking ban that went into effect Monday.

It prohibits the parking of vehicles on streets, alleys and city-owned parking lots between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

The directors of both cities’ police departments say officers won’t begin enforcing the overnight parking ban until the first snowfall, or until roads become icy and salters are needed.

Residents of both cities should stay informed about weather forecasts predicting snow and move their vehicles before it hits, as enforcement will begin without further notice.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
