Recycling carts headed to Marquette residents starting Monday

MARQUETTE, MI— The City of Marquette will start rolling out its new recycling carts next week.

The 64-gallon containers will begin arriving at residents’ homes Monday.

The city is using a single-stream recycling program, where materials like aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and cardboard can go into the same cart.

Grants from the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy and The Recycling Partnership—with support from the American Beverage’s Every Bottle Back initiative—will provide 6,100 new carts and includes funding for education and outreach about the new collection process.
