A changing of the guard on the Marquette City Commission

City of Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI— The City of Marquette has a new mayor.

Monday night, the City Commission held its annual organization meeting and elected Cody Mayer to lead the group. He replaces Jenna Smith, who served as mayor for the past three years.

Commissioner Sally Davis will serve as mayor pro-tem.

The commission also accepted Jenn Hill’s resignation at the meeting. She was chosen as Representative of the 109th District during the midterm elections last week.

The commission has approved a process to find Hill’s replacement.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
