ORV licensing legislation headed to MI Senate

Michigan House
State Rep. Jenn Hill (D-Marquette) testifies in the House Committee on Transportation, Mobility, and Infrastructure in Lansing on May 9, 2023

LANSING, MI— The Michigan House has passed legislation that would preserve the state’s ORV licensing program.

Representative Jenn Hill sponsored the bill. She says money from the program supports the maintenance of trails and infrastructure that make riding possible.

ORV licenses allow riders to use eligible county roads, the frozen surface of public waters, state forest roads, and eligible national forest roads. The program is scheduled to sunset at the end of the year.

The bill now heads to the Senate.
