Lansing, MI - State Representatives Jenn Hill and Donovan McKinney have introduced a 2-bill package to help residents install solar panel and battery storage systems in their homes. The bills aim to encourage widespread adoption of such technologies as a means of bolstering grid resilience, reducing power plant pollution, and lowering energy costs. Hill’s bill would require the Michigan Public Service Commission to develop a system of rules to enable customer solar and battery storage systems to support the grid. McKinney’s bill would establish a rebate to customers of 500-dollars per kilowatt for a new solar system and 300-dollars per kilowatt-hour for a new battery storage system. The rebates would be doubled for low- and middle-income customers.
