Undated - House Speaker Joe Tate toured the Upper Peninsula this past weekend to meet with community leaders and hear directly from residents about their needs and the challenges they face. Tate and State Representative Jenn Hill held a press conference in Marquette to review the impact of the state budget on the U.P.
“It’s important for the U.P. to have a seat at the table,” Hill said. She added that it’s important for the legislators to work together on policies that work for every community in the state.
Tate and Hill also participated in a stop on Representative Helena Scott’s “Energy Reliability, Resilience and Accountability Task Force Listening Tour” with Representatives Abraham Aiyash, John Fitzgerald and Scott – who is the chair of the House Energy, Communications, and Technology Committee.
In addition, Tate met with NMU president Brock Tessman, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community CEO Bridgett LaPointe, and a wide range of local business leaders.
