NORWAY, MI— Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor continued his tour of the U.P. Thursday with a stop at Norway-Vulcan schools.
At Norway Elementary School, Garlin Gilchrist highlighted a state program that provides free breakfast and lunch to 1.4 million students across the state. He also talked about the state’s investment in per-pupil funding, tutoring, and after-school programs.
The Lieutenant Governor then traveled to Wallace to tour the Advanced Blending Solutions facility.
Gilchrist’s final stop was in Escanaba. He met with Bay College President Nerita Hughes to tour campus and view student programs. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proposed making community college tuition-free for every high school graduate.
