Peters secures pause to service changes at Iron Mountain mail processing facility

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Postmaster General says he will pause changes at the Iron Mountain Processing and Distribution Center until next year.

In a letter to Senator Gary Peters Monday, Louis DeJoy committed to pausing changes at similar facilities across the country until after January 1st.

The Postal Service wants to move a portion of Iron Mountain operations to Green Bay. Peters and 25 other senators recently sent DeJoy a letter asking him to stop changes in the USPS network plan until they can be studied to ensure they will not harm mail delivery service. That followed an oversight hearing in April convened to examine the changes and the impact they’ve had on mail delivery.

DeJoy wrote, "I will commit to pause any implementation of these moves at least until after January 1, 2025. Even then, we will not advance these efforts without advising you of our plans to do so, and then only at a moderated pace of implementation.”
