Number of candidates for Ishpeming City Manager position narrowed down to two

City of Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, MI— The Ishpeming City Council interviewed two candidates for City Manager on Friday.

Randy Scholz has served as Chippewa County, Wisconsin Administrator since 2018. He plans to retire in March.

Second candidate Andrew Duerfeldt is Ishpeming’s city planning and zoning administrator.

Former City Manager Craig Cugini was fired last June. The City Council said Cugini’s behavior and a breakdown of the working relationship with the Council led to his termination.

City Finance Director Grant Getschow has served as Interim City Manager since that time.

The candidates will undergo a second interview. A final selection could be made in the next few weeks.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
