WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Senator Gary Peters of Michigan is applauding a decision by the U.S. Postal Service to keep local mail processing at the Iron Mountain Processing and Distribution Center.
Last year, the USPS said it intended to transfer outgoing mail processing operations to Green Bay to save money.
Peters, Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, slammed the decision. He said the move would impact residents across the U.P., especially those who depend upon the timely delivery of medications, financial documents, and lab tests.
On Friday, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy informed Peters the Iron Mountain PDC will remain fully operational into the future.
