ESCANABA, MI— A group of citizens wanting answers about recent actions taken by President Trump’s administration is holding a town hall in the 1st Congressional District… likely without Representative Jack Bergman in attendance.
Escanaba resident and event organizer Teresa Ross says Bergman didn’t show up in his district during the last Congressional recess to answer questions about issues like federal job cuts, the SAVE Act and how it would affect married women voters, and threats to Medicare and Medicaid.
Ross says a search for Bergman’s schedule and a request to his office for a town hall went unheeded.
“I have so many questions, like so many constituents, that we just want answered, you know? And if he doesn’t know the answer, find out and then let us know.”
The mock town hall will be held Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Local 21 Union Hall in Escanaba. Ross says the event aims to shine a light on Bergman’s absence and perhaps launch a local activist group.

Bergman’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
