Residents asked to give input on potential sale of Lakeview Arena in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI— The City of Marquette is looking to sell Lakeview Arena.

At a Lake Superior Community Partnership “State of the City/County” meeting last week, Mayor Jessica Hanley said officials want someone who will upgrade the facility and run it more efficiently. She says Lakeview has been operating at a deficit for years.

Hanley states the city does not want to get rid of Lakeview.

A Marquette City Commission work session will be held Wednesday to get public input on the possible sale of the facility. It begins at 5:15 p.m. in the Lakeview Arena Citizen’s Forum.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
