Parking regulations to be enforced in downtown Negaunee

NEGAUNEE, MI— Officials with the City of Negaunee say they’ll start enforcing downtown parking ordinances.

In a Facebook post, they say although the regulations have been in place for years, both signage and enforcement have been nearly non-existent. Now that more businesses are in the downtown region, officials will take measures to ensure drivers will adhere to the ordinances:

1. The DDA will send a letter to businesses requesting that employers and their employees utilize off-street parking lots to allow for better customer access to both Iron and Jackson Streets.

2. 2-hour parking limit signs (Between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm) will be placed along both Iron and Jackson Streets in the coming weeks.

3. The city will continue its plans for improving parking lots when possible.

4. Continuous review of parking measures will take place to facilitate improved parking programs and policies.
