Construction on Ishpeming skatepark still on hold

City of Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, MI— Ishpeming officials are apologizing that construction on the city’s new skatepark has not yet begun.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the city said it was disappointed to see the lot at the corner of Pine and Division streets still vacant.

Officials say the skatepark is still anticipated to reach completion in 2025 after several external project delays. At this time, crews from American Ramp Company should arrive in October to begin work and are expected to wrap up in November.

Ishpeming received a $50,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity last year to pay for the project.
