MUNISING, Mich.- A segment of Sand Point Road east of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore boundary is scheduled to be closed beginning October 2nd for a culvert replacement project. The work will take 6-to-8 days to complete.
The Sand Point Marsh Trail, Sand Point Beach, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Headquarters will be inaccessible via Sand Point Road during this time.
The culvert replacement project will improve hydrologic connectivity between the Sand Point Wetland and Lake Superior within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The project is funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
